ILGA World seeks a Junior Professional Consultant on Communications

This is an exciting opportunity to join ILGA World, the global LGBTI membership-based organisation with more than 1,700 member organisations in over 160 countries.

The Junior Professional Consultant will provide assistance to ILGA World’s communications team and will report to Daniele Paletta (Communications Manager) – working in close cooperation with Suelle Anglin (Communications Consultant).

The International Junior Professionals Programme of ILGA World is a great opportunity for somebody who has an interest in human rights and LGBTI issues and wants to gain experience in working for an international human rights organisation that represents LGBTI organisations, communities, and movements on a global stage. They are aimed at LGBTI human rights activists who are at an early stage of their career.

The ideal candidate will start working on the 21 March 2022.

Who can apply?

  • Anyone with dedication to - and experience regarding – human rights of and social justice for persons of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and sex characteristics who meets the requirements set out below is welcome to apply.
  • The main target group for the International Junior Professionals Programme are persons who are at an early stage of their career.
  • The junior consultancies in the International Junior Professionals Programme replace ILGA World’s internship opportunities that we offered in the past.
  • As an international programme, any person may apply except those living in Switzerland.

Process after submitting the application

We expect to communicate our decision to shortlist candidates by 28 February 2022. Please bear in mind that, if you have not been contacted after this date, this means that you have not been shortlisted for the position.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a written task that will be sent on 28 February 2022. They will have until 7 March 2022 to deadline to deliver the written task.

Interviews to candidates who will be further shortlisted and admitted to the final stage of the selection process are expected to take place between 15 and 17 March 2022. The interview itself will last approximately 45 minutes.

The selected candidates will be notified around 18 March 2022.

Over the years, social media have become an integral part of how ILGA World communicates, establishing a daily presence on several platforms. Please explain your experience, if any, in creating visual content for social media pages of human rights organisations or other clients, and provide examples of the results you managed to achieve.
At ILGA World, we have a clear mandate to support the visibility, contributions, and empowerment of people of diverse and marginalised SOGIESC, and communications is crucial to achieve this result. The successful candidate is somebody who is competent in liaising with people of many different nationalities, cultures, and identities – building relations with persons from diverse walks of life, and to work effectively in a team with a flexible, collaborative attitude. Please provide an example that illustrates your ability to work in partnerships, and your approach to teamwork in general.
